HER Music presents: The “Beats for Peace” Project
HER Music is both a Record Label and a Production Company and has been in existence since 1999. HER is an acronym for “Heal Earth Rite”. HER Music’s motto is: “Save our MotHER” and the intent is to “Heal Earth Rite”.
HER Music presents: The "Beats for Peace" Project. The primary goal is to bring “Music with a Message" to the masses. The objective is to release benefit albums for select cmarities as a media tool to promote awareness of issues focusing on hunger, homelessness, and poverty. The target market is the urban underground between the ages of 16 and 30.
Over the past 9 years, HER Music has helped promote awareness through marketing tools such as Street Team Promotions and Internet Marketing for over 50 non-profit organizations including California Peace Action, Greenpeace, Rainforest Action Network, Union Rescue Mission Homeless Shelter, and World Hunger Year to name a few.
Maintaining the integrity of its vision, HER Music is poised to launch a series of benefit albums called the “Beats for Peace” Project. The proceeds will support many needed projects both locally and globally, as well as promote artists with a positive message. HER Music aims to focus primarily on CD sales of which 100% of our net profits will be donated to select charities.
HER Music is a project of the International Humanities Center, a 501[c](3) non-profit organization, who is acting as a fiscal sponsor as of April 2008. The International Humanities Center's mission is to work with other independent nonprofit organizations and sponsored projects that are devoted to a vision of ecological and humanitarian stewardship that benefits all of creation. IHCenter is pro-actively collaborating with qualified projects through our 501[c](3) fiscal sponsorship program.
Founder of HER Music, Aire Redtree will oversee operations. All operations will take place in Oakland, CA at HER Music’s main office with the support from established partners. The International Humanitites Center Board of Directors is the de facto Board for HER Music. IHCenter also takes care of all accounting and legal guidance.
Aire Redtree’s experience as an activist and leader includes; San Diego’s Street Team Leader for Rock the Vote, Director for numerous Political Campaigns for Taylor Petition Management, Progressive Campaigns and EDH and Associates in addition to having worked for numerous Non-Profits such as Greenpeace, Sierra Club and California Peace Action. Aire Redtree has over 10 years experience both studying and working in the Music Industry as well, having worked at Capitol Records in the College Radio Promotion Department as an intern, and as the Assistant to the Head of Business and Legal Affairs for Revolution Records, a Warner Brothers affiliate, in addition to having co-founded two independent record labels, a production company, and a charity organization, all of which are still in existence today.
The marketing plan consists of publicity, community outreach, advertising, radio and Internet promotions, and a street team as well as combined efforts with our partner organizations. Our partners include; Everytone Music Collective, a socially conscious full production house, Freestyle Movement, a multimedia design studio supporting creative movements promoting global awareness and taking action through multimedia collaborations, Satya Dharma Music, a record label that will handle our digital distribution and publicity, International Humanities Center, our Fiscal Sponsor, and Tate Music Group, a publishing giant that offers distribution through the largest worldwide distributor, Ingram/Spring Arbor.
The “Beats for Peace” Project Compilation Series will consist of various genres including conscious hip-hop, folk, electronica, and more. Each CD will benefit a selected charity. Three Benefit Albums will be produced annually; One Sampler CD showcasing our various artists and styles of music, One Genre Specific CD featuring a compilation of artists from one specific genre, and one Solo Album CD, featuring one of our conscious artists.
HER Music is seeking sponsorship from eco-friendly companies to support the Beats for Peace Project in trade for full page ads in the tree-free insert (booklet) that is included with each benefit album. This insert will be a booklet that includes art, poetry and advertising for our sponsors that support the project.
There are three benefit albums that are scheduled to be released over the next two years. The first release is Aire Redtree's solo album WHY?. This release is a benefit album for WHY; World Hunger Year, www.worldhungeryear.org and was released in the spring of 2010. The second release, WMN for Peace, is a compilation album that showcases the talent of the Women's Music Network, and is a benefit for Women for Women International, www.womenforwomen.org, and is scheduled to be released in fall of 2010. The third release is titled Beats for Peace, and is a compilation that features HER Music's Bay Area artists, and is a benefit for the Bay Area Rescue Mission, a homeless shelter located in the Bay Area, www.bayarearescue.org. This album is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2011.
Each Compilation CD released will feature artists who have been carefully selected based on the criteria of having similar morals and vision, integrity and talent. Each artist is unique, cutting edge, and socially conscious. These compilation CD's will feature professional quality, pre-recorded tracks from our featured artists. The benefits of having tracks pre-recorded will dramatically reduce our costs and production time.
Packaging for the CD itself will consist of a 100% recycled chipboard box, including the CD itself, and an entertaining booklet consisting of art, poetry, advertising for eco-friendly companies that support our cause, details regarding the Beats for Peace Project and information regarding the charity in which we are benefiting. This booklet with be printed on tree-free paper. This booklet will encourage the consumer to support the eco-friendly companies that support the cause, and encourage the consumer to become a member of the specified charity, and help support action-based projects and programs both locally, and globally. Not only will consumers be pleased to purchase top quality, cutting edge music, but also the fact that they will be donating to a cause will encourage them to make their purchase.
Inspiring artists featured on each CD will receive fair market royalties. Each artist will be asked to donate their songs or tracks to the project, and will then be offered 50% commission on every CD they sell. Each artist will maintain the rights and creative control of all of their works. Additionally, artists featured on the compilation CD's will then be pushed, through the support of HER Music, to produce and release their Solo Project as a Benefit Album as well. HER Music will accomplish this with the support of HER partners, Everytone Music Collective, Freestyle Movement, Satya-Dharma, IHCenter, and Tate Music Group.
In the past, HER Music has formed alliances with over 50 Eco-Friendly Companies including Whole Foods, Gaiam, Annie’s Naturals, Reeds Ginger Brew, Seeds of Change and many more, in addition to industry sponsors such as Earthdance International, Galactic Council, Groove Tickets, Music Fans, Step Up Media, and Green Galactic amongst so many other visionaries of the 21st century.
The estimated budget for a one-year projection is $300,000. The focus is primarily on CD sales through strategic guerilla marketing plans and combining efforts with HER current partners, in addition to creating new marketing alliances. Support from the partner organizations include: office management, public relations, promotions, venues, touring, distribution, marketing, school fund raising programs, along with many other creative avenues. The initial funding will enable the project to start productions and carry through the completion of the CD releases, thus creating self-sustaining operations.
